Why I Started Art Anjali – A Piece of Home You Can Wear

I was twenty and a half when I left Calcutta for my studies—wide-eyed, nervous, and full of dreams. Eventually settled down in Mumbai and began designing for some of the biggest Global and Indian brands. My work grew, my skills sharpened, and I built a life of my dreams.

But no matter how far I travelled or how much I grew, a part of me remained behind. In the red-brick walls of old houses. In the sound of conch shells at dawn. In the comfort of cha in a bhnar. In an hour long adda. In the scent of gondhoraj lebu and in the devotion of Durga Pujo.

Art Anjali was born from that longing.

At its core, Art Anjali is about wearing your roots with pride. Every design is inspired by a slice of life in Bengal—language, literature, food, street corners, family quirks, and festive chaos. I want our T-shirts to make people smile, spark memories, start conversations. Whether you’re a Bengali by birth or in spirit, whether you were born in Bengal, studied or worked there briefly, whether you’ve left home or never want to, Art Anjali is for you.

This is more than a brand—it’s my personal love letter to Bengal.
